Here's what you need to know to avoid falling victim to a malicious prank.

Video blogger, Zach Straley, discovered an interesting bug in the iPhone. If you have iPhone 5s or newer model, listen carefully.

Never change the date to 1 January 1970. This could damage your device. This date is 0 time for Unix systems. From that date onwards, time starts counting in milliseconds.

Why would someone set the date of their device to this date? A user of iOS 9.3 beta saw that the date did not appear on the home screen of the iPhone. He thought that if he used an older date it would fix the problem. He unintentionally blocked his device and made this bug known.

There are some malicious pranksters encouraging users to set this date on their devices to earn some "hidden gifts".

We suggest you leave the iPhone to choose the right date on its own to avoid a similar problem.
