Google has officially announced the release of Android 15 on 3 September 2024, with the update being available first in open source (AOSP).

This means that device makers can now customize the operating system for their own devices, but updates for devices like Google's Pixel and other brands will still be a few weeks or months away.

Android 15 brings many improvements and new features, including better support for devices with foldable screens, improved multitasking on large screens, and features such as music recognition through the "Circle to Search" feature.
In addition, there are significant security and privacy improvements, including the ability to create a "private space" on the device, as well as support for enhanced NFC functionality and battery management improvements.
