The delay of the release of Android 15 on Google's Pixel is a surprising development, especially given the stable nature of Beta 4.2.

According to new reports, Google may delay the official release of Android 15 until October or even mid-month. This means that the new Pixel 9s will ship with Android 14 pre-installed and will only receive the September 2024 security code update, instead of the full upgrade to Android 15.

While Android 15 may not be the biggest update, it brings interesting new features such as "Private Space", a revamped volume panel with Material You and improvements to the Graphics Selection Tool. This delay may allow Google to deliver a more stable and improved version, with fewer problems at launch.

The release of Android 15 in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) next week may be a sign that the company is still working on perfecting the version for the Pixel, although there is the possibility of a gap, as had happened with Android 12.

For most Android users, this delay probably won't have much of an impact, since most other Android devices receive major updates several months after the Pixels. This may ensure that when Android 15 finally arrives on Pixel devices, it will be more stable and free of potential bugs.
