A first glimpse of Samsung's One UI 8 running Android 16

Samsung is preparing to release One UI 8, based on Android 16, with a focus on improvements and user experience.

Although this is a relatively minor upgrade compared to One UI 7, it brings significant changes in design and functionality.

What's new in One UI 8

  • Smoother transitions and animations: Samsung has improved the responsiveness of the UI, offering smoother transitions and animations.
  • Redesigned applications: The Gallery and File Manager apps have undergone small but substantial changes, with a cleaner design and improved navigation.
  • Extension of Now Brief: The Now Brief feature, introduced in One UI 7, is being extended to more devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
  • Stability and performance: Samsung focuses on improving system stability and performance by addressing issues that existed in previous versions.

The upgrade to One UI 8 is expected to be available for the following devices.

  • Galaxy S25, S24, S23 and S22 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Fold 6, Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Flip 6, Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S9
  • Some Galaxy A series models, such as the A55 and A35

Android 16 is expected to be officially released in June 2025. Samsung plans to launch One UI 8 in July or August, initially with the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 foldables.
