Two similar campaigns from the two big tech companies.
Surely some will wonder once again at the following spectacle. We have the impression that there in Cupertino, the people in charge have started suing again. We hope Judge Lucy Koh hasn't gone on vacation. The reason is Samsung's recent campaign for its Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices, which is mildly similar to Apple's campaign, which is about a year old.

Samsung's new ad is titled "Captured on Galaxy S7". This might remind you of Apple's award-winning "Shot on iPhone" campaign. Samsung does not mention in the ad that the shots were taken by ordinary users and with their devices, as in the Apple campaign. It mainly emphasizes the resolution of the 4K Ultra HD video captured by Samsung's latest devices. The shots are high resolution and all surprisingly the video image, is not wobbly at all.
That's what we should have guessed. How else would Samsung claim that its video capabilities are the best on the market? It's worth mentioning that when asked by tech website Cnet, neither Samsung nor Apple wanted to comment on the matter. The truth about which company is copying the other has been sought for many years and in various courtrooms around the world.
What is certain is that in the matter of copying there is no innocent and accused depending on the period. As well as Apple has followed Samsung in copying on many fronts. It may be recalled that Apple the maker of the iPhone device, turned its attention to larger screens soon after Samsung, could it be a coincidence?

Samsung's new ad is pretty good in itself. Particularly thoughtful to come from a source of inspiration. It's as if several shots were taken for each moment. The shots - it seems - are not spontaneous but methodical, following a script and direction.
In fact, a reader of the tech website reported that Samsung had run a similar ad in 2013, two years before Apple launched its own campaign. Of course if you pay attention to the ads you'll see that in no way has Apple borrowed elements from Samsung's campaign at the time.
Who is copying whom, after all?
