A definitive end for Cortana in Windows 10 and 11, available in Teams

Microsoft has announced the termination of Cortana as a standalone application in Windows. Although Cortana will no longer be provided as a separate app, it will continue to exist and evolve as part of other Microsoft products and services.

Cortana will be integrated into the Outlook and Teams apps for mobile devices, bringing voice assistant functionality to those apps. In addition, it will be available on Teams display devices and Teams rooms, enabling the use of voice commands and intelligent assistant features.

The reason behind this change is Microsoft's focus on evolving and integrating AI and AI solutions into more flexible and broader platforms such as Bing, Bing Chat, Windows 11, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Windows Copilot. The company seeks to deliver enhanced experiences and functionality through its new AI technologies.

Although Cortana as a standalone app in Windows will no longer be supported by Microsoft, the company continues to invest in the development of AI technologies and in providing digital assistants in its other products and services.
