How to make a digital signature to accompany your emails on your Mac.

Many users send a digital signature with each email which is automatically included in the message they write. It's a good way to personalize your messages and be instantly recognized when you send them. This signature is an HTML text that is formatted with different fonts, bold or italics, different colors (and whatever else we want) and includes any text we would like and addresses, links to websites and generally any information we would like to make it stand out and be instantly recognizable by our recipients. Something like this is handy for a company, for example, who would like their details included in every email they send, but also for ordinary individuals.

So for Mac users and users of Mail, which is the standard email program in OS X, the process of creating such a signature is a very simple process and we will show it below.

How it is done

The procedure is common to all versions of the Mail on the Mac.

We open the Mail application and choose to create a new message (email) that we will use to create our signature. The email we're not sending this anywhere.

We write in the section where we write the messages of an email, what we would like to include in our signature: e.g. a phrase, names, addresses, links, etc. And we format them however we like (bold, italicized, colored or whatever).

After we have finished, we select all the text of the signature and copy it to the clipboard either by right-clicking on it and selecting Copy, or by using the combination COMMAND+C.

We then click on the pop-up field of the signature (far right) and from the menu that appears we select Signature processing. Another way is to go to the Mail > Preferences menu and click on the Signatures tab.

Select from the left panel the account you want (if you have more than one) and click on the "+" (below) to create a new one. We will see that it is automatically created in the right panel, our default email address on that account.

We select it and in its place we paste (COMMAND+V or right key and "Paste from") the signature we made (which is on the clipboard from before).

That's it. We're closing the Preferences and we choose to create a re email. We will see that our new signature is automatically added to the top of the message.

It goes without saying that if we do not want our signature to be sent in a message, we select "None Signature" from the pop-up menu of signatures in the far right.

If we want to share our signature with the iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) we can send the text of our signature in an email to ourselves. Then we open this email on our iOS device, select and copy the text and go to the Settings > Mail, contacts, and calendars > Signature. There, we choose to write a new signature and paste the text of our signature that we copied from the email.

You will see that in the iOS we have the option to send the same signature to all our accounts or a separate one for each one.
