Application Maps: Learn all its secrets!

Learn to use Maps on iPhone and you'll never be lost again!

A few years ago, to go on a trip or to find a particular route, you had to consult a map. Really, have you ever used a map? I have and I have to say it was not easy at all.

Every time I went somewhere, I would open the giant map and the calvary would begin. Find the spot, which was usually between the rip and stain, memorize the route and God help me.

Fortunately, with the iPhone, no one has to resort to such means, since we can travel worldwide, easily and quickly. How? With the Maps application that we all have on our iPhone.

But even Maps have their secrets and we intend to show you those in this article.

How to set a route

The simplest and most common use of the Maps application is to set a route. To select a starting point and a destination, follow the steps below.

• Open the Maps app.
• Tap the instructions at the top left of your screen. It's a twisting arrow.
• Click on the text at the top of your screen and a menu will appear, where you will set the Start and End of the route.
• Tap the Route button, then press Start and you're ready for your trip.

At the same time, Siri will let you know by voice what path you need to follow. If Siri's voice guidance annoys you, you can lower the volume of her voice or mute it. This, you can do using the volume adjustment buttons on your device.

How to choose the route you want

Follow the above instructions again, but after pressing the Route button, you will see that the map shows, in blue, the different routes you can choose. You will notice that one route is shown in brighter blue than the others. This is the route that is automatically selected by Maps.

If you tap any of the other routes, then it will change colour and the app will use that route. Of course, the time that each route will take is indicated on top of each route.

Define how you will make the journey

It is not necessary that you will only need to use the Maps for car journeys. You can get directions when you are on foot or to make a journey using public transport (although these are not yet supported in our country, we mention them because you may need them on a trip abroad).

Follow the above steps again, and at the point where you select the route to take, you will see that 3 options appear. Driving, Walking, Public Transport.

If you choose any of the 3 options, you will see the route change to accommodate your choice.

Activate 3D Map

You can also activate the display of the map in 3D. At the route selection point, press the "i", located at the bottom right of your screen. After pressing it, you will be presented with the option to display the map in 3D.

Just to mention that this option is not available in all regions.

How to view the instructions in text format

Follow the familiar steps to get to the route selection and tap Details. There you will be shown written, detailed instructions. Tap Finish to return to the route selection.
