What will iOS 9 bring to the pre-installed maps app?

For years the biggest omission in the pre-installed application, Maps, has been the lack of directional instructions for public transport. In the upcoming upgrade of the iOS 9 operating system of the Apple this is about to change, as the new update will include support for bus, metro and train routes in most major cities.

In the presentation, the cities that were mentioned and will support public transport route instructions are Baltimore, the Berlin, the Chicago, the London, the city of Mexico, η News York, η Philadelphia, the San Francisco, the Toronto and the Washington D.C. The new feature will also be available in 30 other cities around the world such as Beijing at China and the Shanghai.

In the above cities, the new feature will offer detailed functions, which will be updated depending on the location. They will include specific points such as entrances Metro or exactly where the bus stop is located.

Like competing apps that incorporate guidance for transport (see Google Maps) η Apple provides users with a range of travel options by searching for a specific address, including different train paths, as well as their departure times. Where possible, the Apple, includes in the Maps application and scheduled train arrivals.

Instructions can be viewed by the user in a Map, or in a list of step by step instructions. In the detailed list view, users can also check the transport stops to plan their trip. In the new upgraded maps of the Apple, you will also find the underground maps, which show the underground train stations in X-ray style.

In particular, the company can show exactly where they should go and where they can exit from a metro station. With the new maps, users are able to plan future trips by entering a departure date and time and the app will return results with the best available routes, depending on the search period.

Users can exclude or include types of transport if they do not wish to travel by bus or metro. Directions are available in the functional iOS 9, and through the virtual assistant Siri, which means that you can talk to the iPhone you, to get the right directions. Transport directions are also expected in the updated software OS X.

This means that users can plan a trip from their computer Mac and then follow the information through a iPhone or the Apple Watch.
