iOS 19 is expected to bring the biggest design overhaul since iOS 7, aiming to take full advantage of the large screens of modern iPhones.

Apple plans to unveil the new operating system at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025, with an official release expected in the autumn alongside the iPhone 17 series.

What's in the new iOS 19 design

  • Inspired by visionOS: The new design takes cues from Vision Pro's visionOS, adopting transparent elements, rounded corners and more "floating" menus, offering a more modern and flexible user experience.
  • Redesigned icons and apps: Application icons are more circular in shape, while applications such as the Camera and Control Centre are updated with a cleaner and more functional design, making it easier to access key functions.

  • Improved navigation: Apple aims to make navigation simpler and faster, with redesigned menus and buttons, making the system friendlier and easier to learn, especially for new users.
  • Consolidate experience across devices: iOS 19 will bring a more consistent user experience to iPhone, iPad and Mac, paving the way for future devices such as foldable iPhone or Mac touchscreens.

The new design of iOS 19 is especially adapted for the large screens of modern iPhones, such as the Pro Max models. The use of transparent elements, the rearrangement of menus and the adoption of more flexible interfaces make the user experience more comfortable and efficient on larger screens.

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 at WWDC in June 2025, with the first beta versions released soon after for developers and public testers. The final version is slated for release in September 2025, alongside the new iPhone 17 series.
