Apple's iOS 18.2 brings significant changes to the default apps, giving users more freedom of choice.

You can now set third-party apps as the default for features such as calls, messages, email, browsing, and more, via Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
This possibility extends to all countries and is not limited to the EU, where Apple has already complied with digital marketplace legislation.

In addition, users in the EU will even be able to delete key pre-installed applications, such as the App Store and Safari.
At the same time, Apple allows third-party applications to use the NFC chip for payments and other functions, independent of Apple Pay.
iOS 18.2 is expected to be released to the public in December and is already being beta tested.
