Apple released iOS 17.0.3, which fixes several problems in the software, but most importantly, it addressed the problem of overheating caused on some iPhone models using iOS 17, especially when users were running certain applications or when the device was charging.

Device temperatures had risen significantly, with a video from iPhonedo showing that the temperature was over 96 degrees Fahrenheit when Instagram was on.

However, it seems that Apple has successfully fixed the overheating problem with iOS 17.0.3, as a new video from iPhonedo proves. The video shows that temperatures have dropped significantly and reveals that Apple didn't have to make changes to the A17 Pro chipset to fix the problem, as many feared.

This was proven when two iPhone 15 Pro Max passed through Geekbench. One of the phones was running iOS 17.0.3 and the other iOS 17.1 beta, which was an earlier version than 17.0.3. Both phones showed similar Geekbench scores, with single-core scores of 2945 and multi-core scores of 7274 and 7259, suggesting that the chipset was not affected by the update.

Additional tests proved that Instagram was one of the apps that caused the iPhone to overheat. So while iOS 17.0.3 resolves general overheating issues, the recent update to the Instagram app for iOS specifically addresses the overheating problem caused by this popular app. Therefore, if you use Instagram frequently, it's important to install the update on your iPhone.

To do this, open the App Store on your iPhone, then tap the profile picture in the top right corner. Scroll down and you'll see a list of apps to update or apps that have already been updated. If Instagram requires an update, you'll see an "Update" button that you need to tap to install the update. If the button says "Open," it means the update is already complete.
