The Google Duo seems to be the new trend of the summer.

Google's video-calling app, Google Duo, has been out for just a week since its appearance in the App Store and has already hit the red in downloads by users. Google Duo is currently the most requested free app in the App Store. Although the app is still new, Google has already announced an update that will add audio-only calls. And that's something that makes sense, since users don't always want to see their conversation partner.

Google Duo came ahead of Pokémon Go and Facebook Messenger in the Google Play Store as well.

Another app that, as we know, set a record a while ago was Pokémon Go, the Nintendo-Niantic Augmented Reality app. In fact, Pokémon Go broke several records. Well, Google Duo has managed to surpass it and is now the most popular app in the App Store and Play Store standing at the top of the Play Store list especially, and followed by Pokémon Go, Messenger, Facebook and Snapchat.

As we know, Google Duo is like Apple's FaceTime, only it's not limited to just one platform and that's its particular strength. In the reviews it has received a total of 4.5 "stars" out of 5 which is also impressive. Pokémon Go and Messenger have completed 4.1 and 3.9 stars respectively, which means that Google Duo is considered better as an app by users. All of this works in Google's favor as an advertisement.

The app was not immediately available everywhere at first, but soon it was available all over the world. And it seems that, as time goes on, more and more people will be added to the list of downloaders.

Among the various facilities offered by the app is "Knock Knock". "Knock Knock" allows the user to quickly see what state the caller is in. This is a unique feature that no other video calling app offers.

The Google Duo is available on both iOS and Android, and if you haven't downloaded it yet, we think it's worth a look. The mere fact that it enables cross-platform communication (something FaceTime unfortunately doesn't do) is, we think, a good reason to get it.
