iOS 10 tip: Delete text faster with 3D Touch

Warning: if you want to use this or any other 3D Touch feature, you must have an iPhone 6s or newer, as earlier models do not have a pressure-sensitive screen. Besides, your device must be updated to iOS 10 or newer to take advantage of this feature. One last requirement for the trick to work is to use Apple's pre-installed keyboard as the primary one and not another third-party keyboard.

Deleting text with 3D Touch

First of all, to delete a text with 3D Touch, faster than in iOS 9, there must be, obviously, text. The trick works everywhere on your iPhone, in any app where you can type text that is editable or deletable.

In our example we have used the Notes application.

The usual way to delete the last words you have written is to hold down the backspace key on the keyboard. After a few seconds of continuous pressing and deleting letters, it starts deleting entire words. Now, if you want to delete an entire sentence or paragraph faster, you can press the backspace key firmly with 3D Touch. iOS then starts deleting words, and it does it faster than we're used to so far.

The iOS 10 operating system arrived on our devices in September 2016 and its most updated version is currently 10.2.1.3D Touch is a new way of using the screen of the new devices, providing various conveniences to the iPhone end user.
