iFixit got inside Apple's smart watch

Tomorrow Friday, along with the iPhone 7, the new version of Apple's smart watch, Apple Watch Series 2, will be released in our country. The company showed us the features of the new device at the annual Keynote, but, as always, the big tech global company and especially its potential buyers are waiting for the traditional teardown from iFixit, which also gives us a good insight into its subsystems.

Opening the device showed a larger battery. While the previous one was at 205mAh, in the second version of the device its capacity has been increased to 273mAh. Of course, as everything indicates, the increase in battery capacity will not "go in favor of autonomy", but, it will be "absorbed" by the needs of the autonomous - now - GPS chip, but also the brighter - and therefore more power-intensive - display. Apple, continues to "give" 18 hours of autonomy to the device.

See the disassembly:

Regarding the waterproofing, while the iFixit team discovered some extra gaskets inside the device, it considers that the "progress" was achieved more through a more durable welding paste, but mainly through the "technology" of the speaker, where sound (!) is used to drain the liquids (apparently through the special design of the speaker and the pulses that the sounds "cause").

The Taptic Engine which is "responsible" for the haptic feedback (free translation: the soft vibrations that are differentiated per category of alert or action) is larger (the chip) and due to the addition of GPS, the antenna circuitry is more complex. But the surprise was the second microphone discovered by the iFixit team, apparently to reduce noise and, by extension, to make Siri's "hearing" more reliable.

We contacted an official reseller store and they are expecting a few pieces of Apple's new smartwatch tomorrow Friday, at the same, or almost the same price as its predecessor. Good shopping!
