With the release of the latest version of the operating system OS X Yosemite<\/strong> on Mac<\/strong> last October, the Apple<\/strong> introduced a number of new features, upgraded applications, and security improvements.<\/p>\n

The features that received the most publicity and public acceptance were the revamped interface, the improved use of notifications, the ability to make phone calls directly from computers Mac<\/strong> and some fantastic improvements and interactions between users iOS 8\u00a0<\/strong>and Mac<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This is just the tip - as we like to say - of the iceberg of new features and capabilities, as there are many more that are hidden and waiting \"patiently\" for a user to discover them.<\/p>\n

So with this thought in mind, here are the following 5 excellent features of the<\/strong> operating system OS X Yosemite<\/strong>, which you probably haven't used yet because you may be unaware of their existence.<\/p>\n

We will use the English terminology for the 5 important features<\/strong> which we will analyse below, giving a Greek subtitle for the sake of the article.<\/p>\n

1<\/span> Markup:<\/h3>\n

Most Yosemite users probably don't know it, but the upgraded mail application gives you the ability to annotate a number of documents that you receive as email attachments.<\/p>\n

This feature is called Markup, and it allows you to use a set of tools to create notes in the document itself, underline important points, or highlight phrases or paragraphs that require attention.<\/p>\n

With these tools you can also add notes or explanations to PDF and photo files, enlarge an element of the document, draw shapes around text or on top of photos. You can also add handwritten text by writing it, on a multitouch trackpad.<\/p>\n

The Markup function can be activated once you open an attachment in an email, by selecting the icon you see in the picture. An important feature and very fun at the same time, especially if you want to forward a message by giving some instructions concerning the attached file.<\/p>\n

2<\/span> Mail Drop:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"5<\/a><\/p>\n

A new handy feature that we discovered in the Mail app of OS X Yosemite<\/strong>, allows you to send very large attachments (up to 5 GB in size), even when internet service providers have set a cap on the file sizes they can allow.<\/p>\n

This feature makes use of the iCloud service to send large attachments, bypassing ISP servers altogether. This capability makes it extremely useful for transferring bulky documents, large numbers of photos or even video files that are typically rejected by email servers.<\/p>\n

To activate this feature, drag the file you want into the area of the email, and your file will automatically be uploaded to iCloud. If the recipient of the message has a Yosemite Mail app, the file will appear in their mailbox as normal.<\/p>\n

But if the recipient is using a different email application, then they will see a link that leads to the downloading of the file. It really is an effective way to transfer large or very large files, even if the ISP would normally prevent you from sharing them via email.<\/p>\n

3<\/span> Widgets:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

One of the truly outstanding and popular features that the Apple<\/strong> introduced with iOS 8 for iPhone and iPad, was the addition of Widgets to Notifications. Widgets are small apps with information and are placed in a specific place, accessible at any time.<\/p>\n

Popular Widgets include weather, reminders, calendars and much more. The notification center in OS X Yosemite<\/strong> can accommodate widgets and the Apple<\/strong> has highlighted apps that have widget extensions in a separate section in the Mac App Store.<\/p>\n

The adding process is incredibly simple. Open the Notification Center, click on the \"Edit\" button to display the list of available widgets on your computer.<\/p>\n

Then select the ones you want by clicking on the green \"+\" symbol to the right of the micro-application you want to add. This was the widget will be added to the Notification Center. There you can sort the various widgets in the order you wish them to appear.<\/p>\n

At this moment the Apple<\/strong> displays Widgets in both the Dashboard and the Notification Center, but we suspect that the Dashboard will disappear soon.<\/p>\n

4<\/span> Family sharing<\/strong> (Family case):<\/h3>\n

H Apple<\/strong> added a really important feature to iOS and OS X that many users have not yet experienced.<\/p>\n

It's called \"Family Sharing\" which, as the title suggests, allows family members to share apps and games they've purchased through the iTunes Store or App Store.<\/p>\n

With the service enabled, a member of your family is designated as a leader, who will enter a unique credit or debit card in the App Store, common to everyone.<\/p>\n

You can then send invitations to up to 5 users to join the family. Every time a member makes a purchase of music, movies, books or apps, the family members will receive that content.<\/p>\n

For example, a family pays once for an app purchase and it is available to all members and their devices. You can set parental control restrictions to ensure that you control excessive purchases, especially by children, by giving you and only you, the final approval for a purchase. This action makes it easy to know what each member of your family is buying at all times.<\/p>\n

5<\/span> iCloud Drive<\/strong> (iCloud storage):<\/h3>\n
